WATCH: Chiefs fans force their way into CT Stadium

Cape Town - Thousands of fans forced their way into the Cape Town Stadium for the Absa Premiership clash between Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

It was estimated that just under 35 000 football fanatics were lucky enough to get a ticket for the much anticipated match.

However, in a video clip released on Twitter, fans who were unable to get a ticket, or arrived at the match late, took matters into their own hands.

Impatient fans pushed through the gates with security guards helpless as they rushed to get into the stadium.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi beat City 4-1 courtesy of goals from Siyabonga Ngezana, Khama Billiat (2) and Philani Zulu.

This is not the first time Chiefs fans have come under scrutiny as they have previously broken through a chain of security guards after Free State Stars handed the Soweto giants a 2-0 Nedbank Cup semi-final defeat in April.

Police were forced to use tear gas as well as stun grenades to bring everything under control as then-Chiefs coach Steve Komphela announced his immediate resignation shortly thereafter. 

Chiefs will now play three matches (one of which has been suspended for a period of 24 months) behind closed doors and the matches must be played at a venue in KwaZulu-Natal.
