'We can complete the season', says Mosimane who seeks 5th title

Pitso Mosimane expects the Premier Soccer League (PSL) season to be completed as Mamelodi Sundowns look to defend their title.

The former Bafana Bafana, Sundowns and Jomo Cosmos striker is now aiming to be first coach to win five Premiership titles in the PSL era. He is currently tied with Gordon Igesund and Gavin Hunt on four gongs.

Masandawana won their 12th Absa Premiership last season and headed into the enforced break, as a result of the coronavirus, in second place on the standings, four points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs and having played a game less.

A number of coaches have previously suggested the 2019/20 campaign be abandoned over safety fears, but Mosimane feels there is time to play the remaining PSL games.

He was reported on KickOff as saying: "I think everybody expects the season to be concluded. The season can be concluded.

"To be honest, I think a month can conclude the season. If we do well, we do things right, we do the precautions and health issues right, I think a round of eight rounds can be done in a month.

"We can complete in one month to be honest. It's not for me to say when and how, but yes, we can complete if we play weekend, Wednesday, weekend.

"We have already done it with three games in one week and so you can see a month is enough. Semi-finals and finals of Nedbank Cup also, it's two weeks remember.

"We can have it from Saturday to Saturday. It's for seven days. We can complete it in my opinion."
