Akpeyi: Bvuma has made all Kaizer Chiefs keepers improve

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has revealed that Bruce Bvuma is providing great competition in the goalkeeping department at Amakhosi.

With the number one shot-stopper and club captain Itumeleng Khune out injured for most of the season so far, Akepyi has started most of the games in goal for the Soweto giants.

The 33-year-old Nigeria international said though that the 24-year-old Bvuma is keeping himself and Khune on his toes.

In quotes published in KickOff, Akpeyi said: "I think it's a tough and stiff competition in the goalkeeping department.

It's a healthy one because he [Bvuma] has made everyone improve in that department.

It's unfortunate one goalkeeper has to play and probably I am fortunate to be the coach's choice at this point in time.

Remember, there was a time last season when Bvuma was playing and at this point in time I am the coach's choice to play."

Kaizer Chiefs travel to Cape Town City for a Telkom Knockout clash on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
