Roger Federer looking forward to 2021 Halle Open

Roger Federer has all but confirmed his participation in the 2021 campaign after revealing he is excited about taking part in the Halle Open next year.

The 2020 tennis calendar has been severely disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic with both the clay-court and grass-court seasons wiped out.

Wimbledon, of course, was the highest-profile event to be cancelled, but the Halle Open was also one of the grass events to be scrapped.

Federer is a 10-time champion in Halle and he was due to defend his title in the German city this year, but fear not he will be back next year as he has a lifetime contract with the ATP 500 tournament.

"We experience difficult times, however, we will arise from it strengthened," he said on the event's official website.

"Already today I am glad and excited about my return to Halle the next year. Stay healthy!"
