South Africa' construction industry managed continue its recovery in the third quarter of 2022, managing to outperform even surprisingly strong GDP growth, with some encouraging signs of further growth for the last three months of the year, according to the latest Afrimat Construction Index.
The index, compiled by economist Roelof Botha, rose a hefty 7.2% from the second quarter to 123.4 points in the quarter ending September, having virtually recovered from the effects of Covid-19, and at 3.1% yearly growth, almost twice the 1.6% rise in GDP for the same period.
