Jeppe High School for Boys threw the biggest punch of the schoolboy rugby season when they beat Bloemfontein's Grey College 22-19 in the second last game of the fourth day of the Noord-Suid rugby tournament in Tshwane on Monday.

Jeppe, who badly fluffed their lines in their 45-19 loss to Paarl Boys High on Friday, where they let a 19-7 lead slip, stayed in the game for the full 70 minutes and were full value for their first-ever win against Mangaung's powerhouse school.

For Grey, who brushed aside Jeppe's cross-town rivals King Edward VII School 51-16 on Friday, it was their first loss on South African soil since 20 August 2022 when they lost 34-19 to fierce rivals Paul Roos Gimnasium.
