The last time the Soweto derby delivered a five-goal spectacle, it favoured Kaizer Chiefs, setting the stage for a joyous Ernst Middendorp-led victory on 11 November 2019.
Nearly five years and 12 Soweto derbies later, South African football's famous fixture on Saturday again dished up a spectacle that surpassed all expectations and lived up to the billing as one of the biggest rivalries on the continent.
The goals, and the seesaw nature of the contest, captivated a sold-out crowd of 90 000 at FNB Stadium, while South Africans at home were also left awe-struck as they watched the action unfold on their screens.
