CT City only PSL team interested in Pule Ekstein

Cape Town - The agent to former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Ekstein has confirmed that just Cape Town City have expressed an interest in his services.

Ekstein left Chiefs towards the end of 2018/19 after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

The 28-year-old was asking for a bumper deal whereas the Glamour Boys were not willing to pay the earth to retain him.

Palesa Mkhize told TimesLive that talks were underway with City but no other suitors had come forward to make a bid to sign him.

He said: "So far, City are the only club that has approached us formally for Pule's services but nothing has been signed yet.

"He wasn't there (when Pirates unveiled their new players on Monday) for sure.

"But it was no surprise to us because we've never agreed anything with Pirates despite all the stories linking Ekstein with them.

"The team that we have tabled our demands to in terms of the salary package and everything, is City. We are now awaiting for their response."

City coach Benni McCarthy is said to be a big admirer of Ekstein though it is unclear whether club boss John Comitis will pay the money to land the midfielder.
