Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has admitted that the Glamour Boys made defensive errors in Saturday's 2-1 Soweto derby defeat to Orlando Pirates.

Amakhosi took the lead through Khama Billiat in the 15th minute, only for goals from Innocent Maela and Vincent Pule in the 29th and 32nd minutes respectively snatched three points for their arch-rivals.

"I tried to communicate with my back four, but we didn't stick to the assigned positions when we conceded the first goal. We must rectify and move forward," the Amakhosi skipper admitted to the media.

However, Khune insisted that he did not have any issues with the back four chosen by Giovanni Solinas, consisting of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Mario Booysen, Siyabonga Ngezana and Godfrey Walusimbi.

"There is no difference in terms of whoever is playing in front of me at centre back. We are working on combinations and we all played because we have a big squad with good players - everyone is getting a chance to play," he said.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old apologised to Chiefs supporters for failing to deliver a crucial three points for them.

"We disappointed our fans. We wanted our fans to have something to take home, but we didn't give them the bragging rights," he admitted.

After the defeat and Sunday's matches, Chiefs sit seventh on the Premiership table with 14 points from 11 games.

Amakhosi will face SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals before returning to league action against Black Leopards.
