Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa said the South African Football Association's 2027 Women's World Cup bid must include the guaranteed provision of an established professional women's football league.

The calls for the formation of this league, with the same being applicable to netball, have grown ever louder in the aftermath of successful World Cup campaigns for the women's national soccer team and their netball counterparts at their respective global tournaments.
