Former Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo is among those whispering in the ear of Ime Okon regarding which national team he should play for, and, in keeping with his nickname "Tyson", Hlatshwayo's advice has come with some threats to the 20-year-old.

Okon is among the most exciting youngsters in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) this season. He has made a quick transition from playing amateur football with Randburg FC in 2022 to comfortably settling in the professional set up at SuperSport United a year later.

The 20-year-old made his professional debut on 5 August 2023 with Matsatsantsa a Pitori. He has gone on to make 27 appearances in all competitions, even captaining the side in the CAF Confederation Cup in his first season of playing topflight football.
